Chapter 7 / Planning and Developing Technology-Rich Instruction

Q:  What is Data Driven Decision Making?
A:  Changing the way school leaders plan, through the power of technology-managed and technology-analyzed data.  School leaders are making data-driven decisions based on using a wide variety of data.  This data is then studied to find what works, and what does not work in the classroom.  By studying this data they now know what areas need improvement.  Data Driven Decision Making is away for districts to hold their teachers accountable.

  1. Good point about data holding teachers accountable. Adminstrators can easily look at data from a given teachers class and see if their students are succeeding or if there needs to be a change in instruction. Without this data it would be difficult to see how students are progressing.

  2. It can also be used to hold school administration accountable as well. I think this is a great tool for teachers to use to ensure that students are grasping content. The data also allows teachers to see where students are and compare it with where they need to be or as Mr. Davis has shared, to show annual yearly growth.

  3. It is definitely an important tool for school districts to take full advantage of if they have access to it. Hopefully in future years more schools will be able to benefit from it!
