Question: What components of a computer are essential for general classroom use?
Answer: All the primary components of a computer system are vital to the classroom (Tower Computer, Monitor, Wireless Keyboard, Wireless Mouse, Microphone, & Printer) - but, by far the most important is the central processing unit (CPU), which is the heart of the computer. Without this you would not have a computer. The CPU controls all the computer's functions.
I think it is important to teach students the parts of a computer and how they work with one another. In that respect, I would teach them about; software, hardware, central processing unit, microphone, keyboard, memory, memory storage devices, monitors, and printers. Depending on their age, it could be a very brief explination or a very elaborate one. I think the computer is an essential part of the education process and should be utilized as much as possible.
ReplyDeleteI think all components of a computer are important in the general classroom. Students should have a good understanding of how the components work together so that they are comfortable using all of the technology available through the use of a computer.
ReplyDeleteI agree with both Heather and Christie that all components of a computer should be taught. So many children have phones with internet and laptops and IPAD's that children are becoming more and more unfamiliar with all the components of a computer. But the computers that are in their schools that they are going to be working on will be full sized with stand alone keyboards, monitors and modems and it is important that they know what they're working with.
ReplyDeleteGood answer :) A better question might be: What components are not essential? It does seem that most components of a computer are pretty important for students to understand, specifically those mentioned above.
