Chapter 6 / Learning and Teaching with Technology

Question:  What constitutes a technology-enriched learning environment?
Answer:  A technology-enriched learning environment is one that the students are active in their learning process.  Students collaborate with others in activities that increase their motivation, understanding, and self-confidence.  These students get immediate feed back on their performance from the soft-ware, so that they can make their own corrections for better understanding of the material.  A technology-enriched learning environment also offers sources of information that is available through the Internet, which increases the students knowledge.  When the material is presented in a real-world situation students can make a better connection.

  1. Cindy,
I have seen some of these programs in action in my classrooms I have visited these past two semesters. I also wrote about them in my blog. I really enjoy the programs and the kids love them. They even ask to play them at the end of the day when waiting for their bus (late bus).

  2. Good points about technology increasing student collaboration and increasing motivation. Some of the examples that Mr. Davis has shown us from his classroom certainly emphasize collaborative learning. I also think that students are more motivated when using technology compared to using traditional paper and pencil.

  3. I agree that in a technology enriched environment, students participate with others which increases motivation and self-confidence. In a world which is constantly changing with technological advantages, it is important that our students are very confident in themselves with the new technology.
